Why I Think I’m a Writer

This first series of blog posts is about a Guided Reading of the Mueller Report. Honest, my friends and former classmates requested this! I turn legal jargon into “regular” talk.

When I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, I noticed that I was seen by classmates and the teacher as the Interpreter and Explainer, the Question Asker, and the One Who Was Not Embarrassed to ask the Stupid Question. For example, a student asked the teacher a question and she often didn’t understand what the child was asking. She’d answer the “wrong” question or say something to indicate the child was asking a bad question or shouldn’t be asking anything at all. I’d interject — I’d interpret what it was the child wanted to know. An ah-ha moment was had by all! The teacher could then answer the question as best she could, and, if necessary, I’d react to the student’s quizzical, uncomprehending look and explain what the teacher meant, what she was trying to say.

I knew by 2nd grade that I wanted to be a writer. It’s the best way to share one’s ideas and wisdom with only the people who want it. You get to choose whether or not to read what I write. Much less stressful than trying to politely back away from me when I start talking.

So, I hope you enjoy the ride and will thoughtfully and kindly weigh in if you wish any additional clarification. This is a labor of love on my part, so please treat it accordingly.
