This is a distractible time to be writing a book. On the surface, I have plenty of time and lots of control over my schedule. But, as a writer and a high intelligence specialist, people from my “network” often write to me with questions and ideas.
Here is a sample. Joe, someone I’ve known only slightly from church, asked me via LinkedIn, “It will be interesting to see how long the personal sequestration lasts, many months possibly? Take care and pray for the best…”
Before you read my response, you should know that my paternal grandmother (not an especially warm woman) gave me lots of advice over the years. About half was good. One day while speaking by phone with her — when I was in my 30s — she reacted to what I thought was an interesting converstion and statement on my part, with “Dear, you should just stick to the weather.” I am now quite aware that she is not the only one who felt that way about my contributions to many conversations.
So, I answered Joe by writing, “I have kept myself well-informed as to the health issues and think that our best bet would be to ramp up the antibodies testing as soon as feasible to see who can donate plasma and who can go back to work, volunteering, etc. I am extremely troubled by how much longer it will all last — and how more serious it will all be — due to the rather cavalier (perhaps just hugely ignorant?) approach to…
