Jacob Jones

Jacob’s mother showed a preference for INFJ (Protector) while his father operated from an ENFP (Inspirer) perspective. He described his mother’s parenting style as authoritative to permissive while his father was generally permissive. His own childhood personality type preference on the Murphy-Meisgeier Type Indicator for Children® was ISTJ (Duty Fulfiller). This kind of child tends to want to know what is expected (i.e., the rules) and does what needs to be done. When a young adult, Jacob tested on the MBTI® and showed a preference for INTP (Thinker). An INTP is generally a person who thinks for himself, is intrinsically motivated, and questions authority figures about the necessity or value of some rules and procedures.

The family’s socioeconomic status may have precluded some special classes and opportunities outside the school setting for the children. They lived in a rural area, and although the public schools attempted to meet Jacob’s needs with acceleration and mentoring adults, the actual overall K-12 educational fit was Unsatisfactory.
